  As an enthusiastic DIY enthusiast, I deal with all topics around the house on a daily basis – and today I have devoted myself to the question of how to install an electric garage door opener I can assemble it myself. For this I have the drive Chamberlain Premium used because it is available in many hardware stores and, according to the manufacturer, is particularly suitable for self-installation. I took a closer look at it myself. The special advantages of the device are the integrated LED technology, the economical standby mode (only 0.8 watts) and the high running speed.
  
  But now to the implementation: The first step is to check the existing gate. In this case, I was dealing with a classic swing gate. It is important that the gate is not stiff under any circumstances, i.e. when I move it, it should remain freely in the respective position. It is also essential to pay attention to the dimensions and weight of the gate. In addition, the gate must always be in perfect condition and the existing locks must be disabled to avoid damage to the device.
  
  If all of this is the case, assembly can begin - and you start with the guide rail. Since important components are already pre-assembled, all you have to do is put them together, tighten the toothed belt and you're done. Then the drive head is mounted. Since my garage has a relatively low ceiling, I decided to mount it on the ceiling - this is where the guide rail is attached and the mounting arm is fitted. That's it.
  
  Alternatively, it is possible to mount the drive head rotated by 90°. This makes it possible to shorten the overall length of the installation by approx. 15cm and also operate the controls "from the side". This is particularly useful if the overall length of the garage makes standard installation impractical.

  Now we can start

  Since the drive adjusts the force itself, only the end points need to be set. The illuminated buttons and the flashing signals help with orientation. The hand-held transmitter is programmed at the touch of a button and the electric garage is ready for use.
